Rural Life - Is it the same everywhere?

September 12, 2007 at 10:50 am | In Rural Life |

You’d think that life on a farm thousands of miles away would be different.

Here I am on the east coast of Canada. I didn’t grow up on a farm, but I did live in a rural community. The “city’s” are small here on Prince Edward Island and the farms are not far away. Almost everyone here has had experiences on a farm.

Anyway, I’ve been reading the Rural Ramblings blog and I was surprised at how similar rural life is in the “Southern US”. Rural Writer hasn’t specified the location of the farm so I can’t be any more accurate than that. The farm animals are slightly different, and there are different species of plants, but life in general is the same.

The Farmer Turns LumberjackThere are some great stories on the site about life’s trials, tribulations, and rewards. Being an ex. Forest Technician myself, I was particularly amused by the Farmer Turns Lumberjack story.

So have a look some time you’re in need of stories of rural life.

  1. Wow,our farm is famous now!

Okay, just FYI, it’s located in southern Tennessee, only 4 miles from the AL/TN state line. We have cotton farms all over the place, so I’m sure that would look different to you.

But I think you’re right, farms have a lot in common no matter where in the world they are!
